I am a strong believer that a good cook needs to clean. Usually the best cooks have been dishwashers in their early days.
I have been there and I am the first to clean everything by hand, even with a dishwasher. Dishwashers are for plates, mugs, cups etc.
Pots and Pans need to be done by hand.
Never ever but kitchen knifes in the machine, very dangerous and they become dull.
The cleanest glasses are the ones done by hand.
It is so great walking into a kitchen that is clean.
Try working in a dirty one

That's great that you get the help. Belle always cleans up the kitchen before she goes to bed and that is a BIG help for me too.

I don't like clean-up after dinner a lot more than I don't like it when I am working in the kitchen. After the meal, I am tired and the last thing I want to do is wash dishes. I have a dishwasher so what is there to complain about? The pots and pans are still there from immediate cooking. Maybe a casserole to heat up something I made ahead of time or the pots to boil pasta or potatoes. They are no big deal except after dinner. I will add, hubby is a big helper.

Well, my husband will knock out a spaghetti dinner every once in a while, but I am the head cook and dish washer. My husband has the advantage in that arena since he often works late and doesn't make it home for dinner with the kids and me :)

In a perfect world, yes that would be great to have someone clean up after us! Maybe it would happen if we are on the Food Network! But in reality....

"I always wash my knives myself, too – don’t anyone else even think of touching them!"

Aaaahhhh, that's why you very quickly turned down my offer to cut up potatoes on the weekend!
