The New American Cooking

The New American Cooking by Joan Nathan is the latest cookbook I’m reading - I actually borrowed it from the library but it’s on my to-buy list my next shopping bout at Amazon.

I haven’t actually made any of the recipes from this book yet, but it is exactly the kind of “armchair cook” cookbook that I love, with more than just recipes. It’s filled with vivid descriptions of the various foods being cooked, or ingredients being used, anecdotes, interviews and other stories about many of the recipes.

The food isn’t boring, either. There are new renditions of a lot of recipes, and despite it’s name, it’s a cookbook that’s filled with international flavors.

It’s due back at the library this week, so I’m looking forward to getting my own copy soon.
